This is the second of two Gentle Spine Waves exercises that free and elongate the spine.

You use it at the end of every practice session of exercises from Comfort Your S-I Joints, a regimen to eliminate sacro-iliac joint pain and attendant symptoms. The exercise helps integrate the changes produced by other exercises of the regimen.

You may also use this exercise to relieve lower back pain, when preceded by Gentle Spine Waves, part 1. See the regimen for that exercise, as well.

This preparatory video introduces the section of the program, Comfort Your S-I Joints, dedicated to the jaws.

Why concern ourselves with the jaws when the problem is in the pelvis? It’s because the spine runs between the two places and the spine functions as a unit, with effects at one end triggering effects at the other.

The effects of a twisted sacrum may go as far as the head, with altered muscular tensions of the trunk, neck, head, jaws, and even eyes resulting.

This tutorial shows a somatic education exercise that exists toward the end of the regimen, “Comfort Your S-I Joints”. The introduction video explains the internal effects of tight jaws on S-I joint dysfunction and of this exercise.

Trunk integration is one of the middle stages of the regimen to correct sacro-iliac joint dysfunction.

Just as the sacrum is the meeting point of all of the weight-bearing forces of the body, the muscles of the trunk direct those forces to the sacrum.

Two “girdles” are involved: shoulder and pelvic.

This exercise integrates how the movements and forces that go through those two girdles affect the entire spinal column, from sacrum through neck.

It’s a very effective exercise for improving balance and movement. However, it is most effective when used in its proper pace in the regimen, which prepares you to receive those improvements.
